British American Tobacco United Kingdom has an exciting opportunity for a Symbols Key Account Manager in London (Chiswick)
As a Symbols Key Account Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving commercial growth and building strong, collaborative relationships within the Symbols trade sector. We're looking for a dynamic, customer-focused professional who can manage key accounts, understand customer needs, and deliver strategic initiatives that support our commercial objectives.
Working closely with the Symbols Manager, you'll identify new opportunities, shape effective ways of working with major symbol groups and their buyers, and ensure seamless Field Force execution across both Independent and Organised retail. This role offers the chance to make a real impact across a wide and diverse retail landscape.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Symbol trade partners, understanding their business goals, challenges, and long-term priorities.
- Act as the primary point of contact, addressing queries promptly and ensuring outstanding client satisfaction.
- Manage assigned accounts end-to-end, including budget tracking, forecasting, and ensuring optimal use of financial resources allocated to the Symbol channel.
- Hold regular account performance reviews and continuously refine the contact strategy to deliver objectives and maximise commercial effectiveness.
- Execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets within the Symbols channel.
- Identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and expanding product or service offerings.
- Deliver against agreed indicators, including Availability, Visibility, Dialogue, Activation, Market Share and Volume targets for assigned accounts.
- Conduct needs assessments to tailor solutions that meet both customer requirements and BAT commercial priorities.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activity within the Symbol sector.
- Use market insights to refine strategy and identify new business opportunities.
- Work closely with internal teams—including Sales Support, Marketing, and Product Development—to ensure seamless execution and a consistent, high-quality customer experience.
What are we looking for?
- Previous experience in Account or Category Management
- Ability to operate effectively in a challenging commercial environment with a reducing account base, balancing customer demands with the commercial objectives of the business
- Strong capability to live and drive the Company Vision & strategy
- Ability to set ambitious targets for self, team members, and customers
- Good knowledge of Brand and Trade Marketing, with an understanding of customer strategy, structure, KPIs, and potential
- High communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions in response to market conditions
- Strong understanding of consumer behaviour and the UK Retail landscape, including the role of accounts within the wider marketplace
- Deep understanding of retail channels and account roles across the market
- Strong analytical skills and general commercial awareness
- Full driving license
- University degree preferred
