Job Description

Key Responsibilities May Include:

  • Co-develop and maintain internal audit processes in alignment with the Institute of Internal Auditors International Professional Practice Framework, ensuring the organization's audit practices meet professional standards.
  • Lead the development and execution of a risk-based audit plan.
  • Collaborate with business management to define the scope and objectives for each audit, ensuring comprehensive risk assessments and control evaluations.
  • Manage the relationship with outsourced internal audit service providers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality audit services that align with organizational goals.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of audit work papers and reports, ensuring accuracy and alignment with internal audit standards
  • Mentor and support the development of internal audit professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill enhancement within the team.
  • Conduct internal reviews of business processes, risk management practices, and control frameworks, either independently or as part of a small team, delivering actionable insights to improve business operations.

Position Purpose

  • Planning and delivering Internal Audits of operational and financial processes across the Brambles group.
  • Providing independent, objective assurance to the Audit & Risk Committee and Management on the adequacy and effectiveness of business processes, risk management and control.
  • Providing insightful, commercially focused Management recommendations.
  • Providing guidance and direction to junior members of the IA team.

Major / Key Accountabilities

  • Provide input into the rolling risk-based Internal Audit plan.
  • Develop the scope and work programme for each audit in conjunction with Management and Internal Audit colleagues.
  • Conduct and lead internal reviews of financial/business processes, risk management and controls whilst working individually or as part of a small team.
  • Add value to the business by generating practical recommendations to improve business processes, risk management and controls.
  • Provide insightful reports to the Audit & Risk Committee and Management on the findings of each audit, including Management responses and action plans.
  • Follow up and report on key recommendations from previous Internal Audit reviews to ensure that the agreed action plans have been implemented.
  • Conduct any commercial reviews, fraud investigations or special projects requested by Management or the Audit & Risk Committee.
  • Conduct complex audits and provide leadership to less experienced team members when required.

Qualifications

  • Appropriate post-graduate degree qualifications (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIA or other financial) are essential.
  • Other Internal Audit, IT Audit or Risk Management qualifications (e.g., CISA) are highly desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience.
  • Big 4 external audit / Internal Audit or prior Internal Audit experience is an advantage.
  • Previous experience working in a Co-Sourced Internal Audit environment.
  • Previous experience leading audit engagement teams.
  • Experience of delivering programme assurance reviews is desirable.
  • Comfortable with the use of data analytics to support Internal Audit reviews.

  • Ability to handle complex audits with sensitivity and commercial acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to adopt a collaborative approach with Senior Management while maintaining an independent viewpoint.
  • Excellent time-management and organisational skills.
  • High analytical, numeracy, communication and computer literacy skills.
  • High integrity.
  • Robust and politically sensitive judgment.
  • Self-motivated – able to work towards agreed objectives with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Experience with TeamMate + is desirable.

Languages

  • Essential: English
  • Desirable: Spanish or Portuguese
