We are excited to announce an excellent opportunity to join Opkill Pest Control Limited as a Trainee Pest Control Technician.

We provide a comprehensive development training program, requiring your commitment to obtain qualifications or enhance existing knowledge. This will include some initial self-study at home.
The primary work area will be within Redditch/Bromsgrove/Birmingham, with occasional travel to other areas like Coventry and Leicester as business needs require.
Your day-to-day duties will involve:
- Using chemicals and equipment to manage pests such as rats, mice, foxes, moles, and birds
- In various environments, including homes, restaurants, sewers, warehouses, and farms.
- Completing written H&S visit reports and advising your customers on long term prevention solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
* Investigating and identifying pests
* Collecting dead animals and samples for analysis
* Determining pest entry points
* Choosing appropriate control methods
* Spraying chemicals to eliminate insects
* Laying poison and traps or using air guns for bird and animal control
* Repairing areas to prevent pest return
* Advising clients on pest prevention
* Completing reports and maintaining records
* Handling and storing chemicals safely
* Disposing of dead or captured animals.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Strong customer service skills
* A full, clean driving license
* Confidence with maths for calculating chemical doses
* Practical skills for problem investigation
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations
* Awareness of environmental impacts of chemicals
The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. You will often work independently, driving to job sites in a company van.
The role involves working both indoors and outdoors, and may require crawling into confined spaces, climbing ladders, and wearing protective clothing.
Physical fitness and good eyesight are essential for investigating problems, and you should be prepared for potentially unpleasant sights and smells.

We offer a competitive package that includes:
* A basic salary starting at £24,000 for those with no prior experience, increasing rapidly with qualifications and experience. You can expect OTE of £28,000+ in your first year with overtime, bonuses, and commission.
