About the Role

Duration: 8-10 weeks commencing June 2026

Base Location: Glasgow, Perth

Salary:Circa £24,580 per annum pro rata

Working Pattern:Fixed Term Contract | Full Time | Flexible First options available

Our Summer Internship programme provides you with a great opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a FTSE 100 Finance team, building your network and developing your financial acumen through exposure to key stakeholders within an exciting Group. You will learn about a number of functions within SSE Finance and gain skills which will allow you to become an integral part of the team, working with your colleagues in our Glasgow and Perth offices for the duration of your placement. You will gain incredible insight into the energy industry whilst learning how we make a difference first hand. We recruit many of our internship roles into permanent graduate positions, so the internship is a fantastic opportunity to launch your career.

Whilst you are at SSE, you will receive on the job coaching that will prepare you for work on key financial tasks such as financial analysis and reporting, as well as key involvement in a range of commercial and financial projects. This will develop your understanding of what SSE really do and set you up for a role in our business at an exciting time of change and growth. You will gain valuable insight into life at SSE Finance, where professional qualifications and further studies are also supported across the Group.

You will be entrusted with graduate level responsibilities and spend the balance of your time within the Finance Departments of the largest SSE businesses. During these placements you will be working alongside experienced and professionally qualified SSE staff, and will become part of the SSE trainee community with an allocated buddy. Our finance wide social events will afford you an opportunity to broaden your network and build relationships.

This summer placement set up will offer a unique opportunity to work with and gain experience in financial accounting, management accounting and business decision making over an 8-10 week period.

What do I need?

You will be entering your final year of study in the autumn of 2026 and will be studying an accountancy, finance or business degree.
