Trainee Psychological Therapist

Duties will include: Responsible for initial patient assessment and selection of appropriate systemic therapy, under the supervision of a registered systemic psychotherapist. Complete timely and effective assessment documentation (including core assessments, risk assessments, and care plans where applicable). Delegate less complex cases to Level 1 Systemic Practitioners, providing support as required. Support a comprehensive mental health service with a broad range of families (including Looked After and Adopted Children, Care Leavers, and Families at the edge of care).
Practice in an equitable and non-discriminatory way. Support primary care partners including GPs to make appropriate and timely referrals and to carry out their own mental health roles. Make appropriate and timely referrals to other services within the Trust, and to external agencies including social care and voluntary agencies. Develop local knowledge of systems of support for families and seek to develop positive working relationships with partners from social care, safeguarding, and the voluntary sector.
Develop the use of reflecting teams and remain part of a reflecting team as necessary. Provide psychoeducation and involve the family system and others in increasing knowledge of systemic practice. Be flexible with regards to working area and working hours where appropriate and commensurate to their job role. Conduct and review risk assessments, prepare risk management plans and initiate appropriate actions where indicated (including requests for mental health act assessments and initiating safeguarding processes both internally and externally to the Trust).
Maintain professional competence in their field of professional registration, if applicable. Complete a minimum of 240 hours of clinical Systemic Psychotherapy over the duration of the course.
