Pot Wash / Kitchen Porter – Job Description

A Pot Wash (or Kitchen Porter) plays a vital role in keeping the kitchen running smoothly and efficiently. This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Washing pots, pans, trays, and kitchen utensils using industrial dishwashers and hand-washing when required.
  • Ensuring all cleaned items are returned to the correct stations for chefs and kitchen staff to use.
  • Keeping the pot wash area clean and tidy, including floors, surfaces, sinks, and equipment.
  • Emptying bins, recycling, and disposing of waste correctly and safely.
  • Assisting with basic food prep when asked by chefs (e.g., peeling vegetables, unloading deliveries).
  • Following hygiene and safety standards, including using chemicals safely and wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Working efficiently during busy service times, staying organised under pressure.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: £12.21-£15.77 per hour
