Head of Capital Appeal to advice capital

The Africa Health Organisation (AHO) plans to raise capital to build a university hospital in Harare, Zimbabwe. Our goal is to ensure health equity and positively impact the lives of people. We want assistance in developing an ambitious capital appeal strategy to meet the goal.

What difference will you make?

Your contributions to our capital appeal grants and proposals will influence how we meet our health equity goal and present ourselves to service users, stakeholders, funders, and the public. With your assistance, we will ensure that our grants and related resources accurately meet our organisation's vision and impact.

What are we looking for?

Essential
Education and Experience

• Educated to a degree level.
• At least five years of significant experience in a senior high-value fundraising role
• High-level fundraising experience of securing five/to six-figure funding
• Extensive track record in working with high-value donors – two or more of trusts, major donors and statutory funders
• Experience in line managing teams of fundraisers
• Experience in managing and developing a diverse funding portfolio
• Experience in managing senior-level volunteers and fundraising committees
• Working under pressure to timescales and objectives
• Managing the performance of others

Knowledge & Understanding

• Management and development of database/ CRM systems
• Legislative environment connected to fundraising/ communications
• Understanding of health issues affecting Black people.
• Ability to demonstrate an appreciation of the African culture.

Abilities & Skills

• Excellent English, writing and presentation skills
• Ability to adapt to different audiences, including donors, senior volunteers, team members, learners and all colleagues in the broader organisation
• Outstanding communication skills, Resourcefulness, Resilience
• The ability to build and maintain professional relationships
• Creative thinking, Project management, sales and negotiation abilities

Desirable

• Evidence of continual professional development,
• Member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising,
• Proven success of personally securing seven-figure major gifts
• Experience of leading a multi-million-pound appeal

This year, we're embarking on a mission to broaden our work by building our first university hospital in Harare, Zimbabwe. Our goal is to raise enough capital to build a hospital that contributes to Zimbabwe's medical landscape and provides premier health care.

We need a visionary like you to help us achieve our goals and contribute to the Government of Zimbabwe's vision of fundamentally transforming Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy by 2030. AHO is dedicated to meeting the government's target for the "Provision of an efficient, integrated and quality health care system is recognised in Vision 2030, with priority being given to preventive care at community and household levels." We're seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Capital Appeal who can develop and execute a winning strategy to secure the £250 million financial backing. There are numerous exciting possibilities ahead, including major donors, individual giving, and both private and public opportunities. We're eager to explore them all.
