Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) Mental Health Support Team (MHST) is expanding its service to an additional 20 schools across the patch. We are delighted to be recruiting an additional Deputy Team Manager to join our team.
B&NES MHST was commissioned in 2020 to provide low intensity CBT to a selected number of schools within the locality. The team are currently providing support to 46% of schools across B&NES which will increase to 77% of schools in January 2026. This is an exciting time to join a specialist service which provides timely early intervention to children and young people.
We are looking for a qualified RMN, OT, Social Worker with or without CBT training who will play a key role in the continuing development of the service. You will be confident in recognising, and with support, addressing the service development needs. You will be able to create effective working partnerships with School Staff, Social Care and other key stakeholders. You will work closely with the Clinical Team Manager and Supervisors to help ensure we are a safe and effective clinical team.
This role will require working 30 hours a week, with two of the working days being a Monday and Wednesday to ensure sufficient cover across the week. If you have any questions regarding the working pattern please call us prior to making an application.
You will facilitate good communication and liaison with young people, their families, interfacing with schools/colleges, colleagues within the Trust and across other organisations.
You will be responsible for providing leadership to the team, providing advice on complex cases, liaising with the education settings on clinical cases, unlocking barriers to engagement, building up key relationships, attending national conferences and seminars and reporting information as necessary.
With support from Clinical Supervisors, you will triage referrals and allocate cases to the Education Mental Health Practitioners and Psychologists within the team. Aiming to achieve the target of seeing Children and Young People within 4 weeks of being referred.
This post will suit someone with a passion for working in early intervention and prevention. This is an exciting venture and collaboration between Health, Education, local authority and voluntary sectors.

B&NES, Swindon and Wiltshire CAMHS have a real ethos of compassionate leadership and kindness.

You will work with the Team Manager to ensure the successful and effective day-to-day management of the Service so that it provides a responsive, high-quality service to patients with common mental health problems.
As Deputy Team Manager, you will have specific lead areas of responsibility whilst also maintaining effective links with mental health leads, children's services, public health and other stake holders.
You will support the team in identifying, and in conjunction with the Clinical Lead, addressing training and development needs for the service.
The Deputy Team Manager will act as a key person to support the team with advice and signposting in relation to safeguarding and risk management. The role will involve supporting the Team Manager in liaising with stakeholders, managing staff and resources and meeting stringent data collection requirements.
If you are a CBT therapist, you will hold a small caseload of CBT cases.
The Deputy Team manager also contributes to the promotion of staff well-being and morale in the Team through developing and maintaining supportive relationships.
You will also be required to be part of the on-call rota as a Senior Mental Health Professional.
