About the role

We are looking to recruit a Children and Young People's Skills Mentor to join the Pupil Referral Unit in Ceredigion on a full-time basis. This is an exciting role within the service providing the opportunity to work with young people from the community and improve their educational outcomes within a bespoke and person-centred educational setting.

On a day-to-day basis you will:

• create and coordinate educational and wellbeing support that meet the Additional Learning Needs of our pupils
• ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all pupils who attend the unit
• provide high quality pastoral care by coordinating programs and interventions
• create an inclusive, comfortable and happy school environment to ensure improvements in learner engagement and wellbeing
• work as part of a team to ensure effective daily provision within the unit

We are looking to recruit an individual that has:

• strong communication and interpersonal skills
• excellent negotiation skills
• excellent behaviour management skills
• positive, inclusive attitude towards diversity
• ability to relate well to vulnerable/challenging pupils and young people
• ability to work independently or as part of a team
• to be innovative and creative in your approach to supporting vulnerable and challenging young people

• ability to maintain a professional relationship whilst working with young people and external delivery partners
