Vehicle Mechanic
to join our in-house maintenance team.
Role Overview
This role involves maintaining, servicing, and repairing our fleet of
light commercial vehicles (LCVs)
— including vans, pickups, and small plant transporters. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on LCVs (mainly Ford, Vauxhall, and similar models).
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools.
- Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and arrange tests where required.
- Carry out inspections and ensure all vehicles meet safety and compliance standards.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Support the team with on-site vehicle checks and occasional breakdown assistance.
- Keep the workshop organised and stocked with essential parts and tools.
- Assist with some plant and machinery servicing and maintenance.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Mechanic or LCV Technician.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent).
- Good working knowledge of LCV systems (diesel engines, braking, electrical, suspension).
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
- Full UK driving licence (Class 2 HGV licence desirable but not essential).
- Ability to work independently with a high standard of workmanship.
