CNC Machinist

Key duties:
- Program online or offline to produce a conforming component within the time set on the route card.
- Read and interpret technical drawings.
- Modify existing programs to improve performance or accommodate part changes.
- Record and report any defects or non-conformities.
- Log completed jobs, machine hours, and tool wear.
- Load and adjust machine programs as needed.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with tooling, programs, or machinery.
Other duties:
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMMs).
- Set up CNC machines with the correct tools, fixtures, and workpieces.
- Compare parts against specifications or drawings to ensure tolerances are met.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines (e.g., cleaning, lubrication).
- Report serious malfunctions to maintenance teams.
- Follow health and safety and quality control procedures.
- Work closely with engineers, designers, and production managers.
Essential Attributes:
- Relevant Engineering Qualification
- Ability to program set and operate CNC milling machines.
- Inspect own work for compliance using precision measuring equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret route cards, drawings, and specifications.
- Keen eye for detail
- Good communication skills
- Computer literate
- Good problem-solving skills
- Able to work apart of a team and independently
- Proactive and self-motivated with the desire to achieve.
Desirable Attributes:
- Previous experience working within the Aerospace & Defence industries.
- Good understanding of quality control principles
- Understanding of 5s process
- Ability to program / operate CNC Heidenhain controls.
- Ability to program / operate CNC Mazak controls.
- Understanding of business improvement techniques
- A Full clean UK driving licence

NFF Precision's Core Working hours are -
- 07.30 to 15.30 Monday to Thursday
- 07.30 to 11.30 on Fridays.
1 Hour per day must also be worked either side of these hours.
