About the team

The Digital and Technology Service is a small, focused team providing professional advice and guidance to the City of London Police in relation to the deployment, management and use of technology services and solutions.

The service is an essential enabler, setting the technical strategy for the Force and ensuring that key digital and technology solutions, upon which the Force relies, are maintained and operational to high and resilient standards.

About the role

City of London Police is looking for an organised, proactive, and enthusiastic Business Coordinator to work within its Digital Technology Service. A key role within the service, you will work closely with colleagues across the Force, the City of London Corporation, external partners and suppliers. You will play an essential part in ensuring that the Force's digital & technology services and solutions enable the Force to protect the public and prevent, detect and deter crime on a local and national level.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be:

  • Managing the financial process for the Digital and Technology service in partnership with the Force's finance service and key suppliers. Act as the main point of contact on behalf of the service with finance colleagues, ensuring that the service manages its budget effectively.
  • Monitoring the quality of service being provided by, and to, the Digital and Technology service across both internal and external suppliers. Challenge where agreed performance has not been achieved and work with colleagues to agree activities to fix performance issues.
  • Developing and maintaining a risk management framework process for compliance with IT audits; and the follow up and completion of IT Audit actions. Managing and monitoring the IT Risk Register for the City of London Police, evaluating the overall information technology risk and reporting on the actual, mitigated and residual risk.

Requirements

For this role, we need you to have experience of:

  • Significant budget management capability, showing demonstrable experience of preparing and managing a departmental annual budget, using financial modelling effectively and costing both regular and new projects and activities.
  • Knowledge of best practice risk management and governance frameworks, methodologies and emerging practice especially in a digital and technology context.
  • Strong understanding of the principles underpinning effective performance management.
  • Experience supporting the management of digital and technology services within a complex organisation.
  • Significant experience of undertaking statistical analysis and producing reports based on this analysis, and proposing solutions to complex performance, financial and risk issues.
