Description At Sandwell College, we're passionate about providing learners with the essential skills they need to succeed. Our collective mission is to achieve excellent outcomes for all learners ensuring successful futures for everyone. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Lecturer in Maths to join our dedicated team at our brand-new Adult Skills Centre in Cradley Heath. A community where many people have missed out on opportunities to learn for too long, and with your help can work toward more positive choices, higher level skills and successful careers in locally important sectors.

In this role, you'll do more than teach maths, you'll unlock confidence, open doors, and empower people to take control of their future. Maths is at the heart of that journey for many, and your expertise will help learners gain the essential numeracy skills they need for everyday life, that will enable them to progress toward further learning and potential  employment opportunities or to support them in their current workplace.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who cares deeply about making a difference. You'll be part of a 'One Team' approach that believes in lifelong learning, providing impactful second chances, and in the power of education to transform lives. If you're passionate about helping people belong, thrive and achieve, join us and be part of something that truly matters to so many.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging GCSE and Functional Skills Maths lessons from Entry Level to Level 2 that inspire confidence and make maths meaningful for all learners
  • Develop inclusive, creative, and contextualised learning resources that relate maths to everyday life and vocational settings—helping learners see the value and relevance of numeracy in their future
  • Provide constructive feedback and tailored support that motivates learners to achieve and exceed their targets, building resilience and self-belief along the way
  • Maintain accurate records for attendance, retention, and achievement, ensuring every learner's journey is monitored and celebrated

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • Strong knowledge of GCSE and Functional Skills Maths delivery from Entry Level to Level 2, including current awarding body requirements
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, inclusive, and contextualised maths lessons that inspire learner progress
  • Confident use of digital tools and learning technologies to enhance teaching and assessment
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills with a learner-centred approach
