Position: Full-time, Maternity Cover

About the Role

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the SN14 area of Swindon is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Reception Teacher to cover a maternity leave starting January 2026.

This full-time role is ideal for a passionate and experienced Early Years teacher who is ready to provide a warm, supportive, and stimulating learning environment for Reception pupils. The school offers a friendly, team-oriented atmosphere and is committed to delivering high-quality early years education.

This is a fixed-term maternity cover, with potential opportunities beyond the contract for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative and engaging lessons following the Early Years Foundation Stage framework
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
  • Support all areas of children's development, particularly in communication, literacy, and numeracy
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, maintaining clear and accurate records
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues
  • Promote positive behaviour and uphold the school's values and expectations
  • Support smooth transitions into Reception and prepare pupils for progression into Year 1
  • Collaborate with the Early Years team and contribute to wider school life
  • Follow all safeguarding, health & safety, and child protection policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status(QTS
  • Recent and relevant experience teaching inEYFS, ideally within a Reception class
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum and child development
  • Confident and caring classroom management
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A flexible, proactive, and positive attitude
  • Commitment to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of all pupils
