Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

Applications are welcome for the above Fixed Term, part time (36 hours per week) post based in St John's Hospital.

This is a locum post which will enhance our existing general medicine service. Applicants will work in General Medicine, providing input for Acute Medicine services and continuing care for inpatients on a General Medical ward. The job plan will be 10 PAs with 9 of these being direct clinical care, 1 SPA.

We would welcome colleagues who have an additional specialist interest in a Medical Specialty and there will be opportunities to discuss incorporating specialty sessions into a job plan.

Clinical Duties And Responsibilities

  • Accreditation in General Internal Medicine +/- other medical specialty
  • Weekday supervision of medical inpatients (on a base ward) providing inpatient care of ward patient, any boarders, participation at ward MDT for active discharge planning
  • When on call, supervise daytime management of the acute medical take and provide leadership to on-call team
  • Contribution to weekday on call rota and Weekend Medical receiving at SJH through the acute on call rota.
  • SPA time

Out Of Hours Commitments

  • Once monthly 24 hr weekday oncall
  • 5 weekends per year (split with a two other consultants)
