About the role: We are looking for a motivated, curious, and solutions-oriented Product Manager with a strong data science and technical background to join our team in London/Athens. This role sits within one of our backend teams, requiring heavy collaboration with data scientists and backend engineers. You will be expected to translate complex data-driven workflows into clear product requirements and contribute to the development of technically sophisticated features. Help us shape the future of the Signal Ocean Platform, our core SaaS product. You'll build deep knowledge of the shipping industry and our platform, bridging the gap between business needs and technical possibilities. Alongside product ownership, you'll support the team in translating vision into execution, shaping solutions through collaborative product thinking and aligning with broader company objectives.

What you will do in this role:
Build a strong understanding of our backend architecture, data pipelines, and APIs, and how they power our SaaS platform
Translate complex technical and data science concepts into clear, actionable product requirements for backend engineers and data scientists
Define and prioritize features related to backend services, analytics engines, and integrations, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
Collaborate closely with data scientists and engineers to design solutions that transform raw data into usable insights for downstream applications
Contribute to the collection and organization of product requirements and feedback from internal and external stakeholders, focusing on data-intensive workflows
Ensure that backend developments align with overall product strategy, supporting front-end teams and client-facing features indirectly
Support successful product delivery by removing blockers, facilitating cross-team communication, and ensuring alignment throughout the development lifecycle
Monitor backend performance, data quality, and system reliability through analytics and reporting, and use these insights to guide roadmap priorities
Contribute to a positive, curious, and high-performing team culture
Requirements
What you bring to the team:
- Strong data science/software engineering background – demonstrated through hands-on experience
- 2+ years of experience as a Product Manager, preferably in backend, data platforms, or infrastructure-heavy products
- Very good technical data skills, including hands-on experience in SQL
- Experience with Python or R (mandatory) for understanding and working closely with data teams; familiarity with data visualization/BI tools is a plus
- Comfort with backend concepts such as data pipelines, APIs, distributed systems, and large-scale data processing
- Working experience with agile methodologies (Kanban or Scrum), ideally with hands-on experience in JIRA and Productboard
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills, with a collaborative mindset and ability to align technical and business teams
- Excellent command of written and spoken English (company's working language)
