Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Healthcare Assistant to join our medical team. This role offers the opportunity to work in diverse clinical settings, including inpatient and outpatient care, emergency medicine, and specialized units such as Geriatrics, PICU, and Medical-Surgical departments. The ideal candidate will possess strong patient service skills, a solid understanding of medical terminology, and experience with EHR systems. Prior hospital or clinic experience, especially in Level I or Level II trauma centers, is highly valued. This position provides a vital support role in delivering high-quality patient care across various medical disciplines.

Duties

  • Assist healthcare professionals with patient intake, including recording vital signs and updating medical records using EHR systems
  • Support patient care activities such as bathing, mobility assistance, and basic hygiene needs
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including X-ray and other diagnostic tests
  • Administer medications under supervision and monitor for adverse reactions
  • Assist with documentation related to ICD coding, anatomy, physiology, and medical history
  • Support hospital medicine, urgent care, internal medicine, and medical-surgical departments as needed
  • Help coordinate patient flow within outpatient clinics or inpatient units
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment adhering to hospital protocols and infection control standards
  • Provide basic life support (BLS) during emergencies until advanced personnel arrive
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient service

Requirements

  • Prior experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or clinic settings preferred; experience in Level I or Level II trauma centers is a plus
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and medication administration procedures
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and medical administrative support tasks
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Strong patient service skills with compassionate communication abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in inpatient and outpatient environments across various specialties such as Geriatrics, PICU, OR experience, or internal medicine preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and vital signs recording
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different clinical settings including urgent care and emergency medicine environments
  • Must possess relevant hospital or clinic experience demonstrating ability to handle fast-paced healthcare operations
