Brown Advisory seeks an Associate Investment Specialist to join their global Sales and client support team in London. The Associate will work directly with the Investment Director responsible for Brown advisory's concentrated, bottom-up global equity strategies. This will be a unique role within the London office with a high level of interaction across Brown Advisory's offices in the U.S. Europe, the Middle East and APAC. The ideal candidate would be joining with 1-2 years of financial market experience, ideally with initial exposure to institutional fund industry processes such as fund analysis, competitor analysis, client reporting or investment research.

Responsibilities
 

As an Associate Investment Specialist, you will be expected to:

  • Build and maintain an intimate understanding of the portfolios' investment philosophy and process.

  • Support the Investment Director with investment specialist services, providing support to the existing client base via routine and ad hoc client service efforts.

  • Actively contribute to new business development through roadshow material preparation, fund and industry analysis and as main point of contact for all stakeholders during the investment director's travel.

  • Closely interact with Sales teams across Europe, the US, the Middle East and APAC regions as well as the global marketing team to support the collection, analysis and communication of portfolio/market information (i.e., Reporting commentary, performance analysis, preparation of presentation materials etc.).

  • Partner with the Investment Director and research team to create thought leadership for consumption by sophisticated investors, clients, and prospects.

  • Partner with the database and RFP team to ensure that quantitative and qualitative output is delivered at the highest possible standard of quality and reflective of the portfolio's investment philosophy and process.

Qualifications
 

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and communicational skill, exceptional attention to detail and would feel comfortable working in a fast-paced, global work environment. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • At least 1-2 years of experience within the asset management industry, ideally with some exposure to typical fund industry processes such as fund analysis, competitor analysis, client reporting or investment research

  • A bachelor's degree is required

  • A valid UK work permission is required

  • Effective communication skills to clearly articulate the team's investment process, competitive edge, and portfolio/market updates

  • Strong interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships internally and externally

  • Strong analytical ability and very comfortable with financial data and concepts

  • Basic understanding of sustainability investment research and reporting would be a plus

  • Experience with FactSet would be a plus

  • Experience with industry tools for competitor analysis such as Morningstar would be a plus
