Nursery Practitioner – Key Responsibilities

As a valued member of our team, you will:

Support Children's Development

  • Contribute to the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of children.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities.
  • Carry out observations and assessments for your key children.

Work Closely With Families & Colleagues

  • Build strong, positive relationships with parents and carers.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain a welcoming, supportive atmosphere.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and nursery events to continue your professional growth.

Help Create a Safe, Stimulating Environment

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and safety.
  • Follow all nursery policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the nursery is inclusive and meets the needs of children from all cultures and backgrounds.

Provide Essential Care

  • Support children during mealtimes, helping create a warm, social atmosphere.
  • Assist with changing, washing, and comforting children as needed.
  • Respond sensitively to each child's individual needs.

Person SpecificationQualifications

  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Childcare
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)

Experience

  • Previous experience in an early years setting is essential.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confident with ICT
  • Calm, positive, and nurturing approach
  • Ability to work sensitively with families
  • Strong initiative and a collaborative mindset
  • Commitment to delivering a safe, stimulating learning environment

Hours & Structure

  • Part-time hours: 8am–1pm or 1pm–6pm
  • Monday to Friday, term-time only — ideal for work–life balance
