Why Bristol?
Bristol Educational Psychology Service (EPS) is a vibrant and values-led team within the growing Inclusion Service of Bristol City Council's Education, Inclusion and Skills Directorate. We are proud to be part of a city-wide movement to strengthen inclusive practice, guided by the . This is an exciting time to join us, as we work collaboratively with schools, families, and the Bristol Parent Carer Forum to build trust, shared understanding, and better outcomes for children and young people across the city.

Our service is committed to promoting inclusion, challenging discrimination, and advancing equality. We embed person-centred approaches in our work and actively listen to the voices of children, young people, and their families—especially those who may not always be heard. We believe in the power of collaboration and shared responsibility, supporting one another while taking ownership of our roles to help individuals and communities thrive.

Associate EP role
We are now offering opportunities for Associate Educational Psychologists (AEPs) to join us in a flexible and rewarding capacity. This role is ideal for professionals who value autonomy and adaptability, as it offers a hybrid working model that balances remote and in-person engagement. While AEPs are not embedded within a single team or school, they play a vital role in contributing to the wider service and supporting inclusive practice across the city.

As an AEP with Bristol City Council, you will receive a comprehensive induction, including guidance on local SEND processes. You'll be equipped with a BCC laptop and have access to ICT support, as well as a wide range of internal resources such as assessment tools, templates, and peer networks. You'll also be invited to all service-wide CPD events and have access to ongoing training and development opportunities.

Working within the service provides clear governance structures and safeguarding protocols, along with ad-hoc supervision for complex cases. You'll benefit from contractual advantages, including access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, and reimbursement for travel expenses in line with council policies. You'll also be covered under the council's Employers Liability Insurance.

How do I apply?
If you share our values and are ready to be part of our inclusive and forward-thinking service, we'd love to hear from you. To be shortlisted for interview, please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the Person Specification within the Further Information section of your application.

Please note that this role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check. Applicants must be HCPC registered.
Closing date for applications is 21st December 2025, Shortlisting will take place week commencing 22nd December. Interviews due to take place early January - Date TBC.
