We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Operative to join our team and support the smooth running of Carlingwark House and Merse House care homes.

You'll play a key part in ensuring our homes are safe, comfortable, and well-maintained for our residents, staff, and visitors.

This is a hands-on role that involves general repairs, routine maintenance, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards across both sites.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out general repairs and maintenance (plumbing, joinery, decorating, etc.)
  • Perform regular safety checks and record-keeping in line with regulations
  • Maintain gardens, grounds, and outdoor areas to a high standard
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and management
  • Liaise with external contractors when specialist repairs are required
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety and infection control policies
  • Support the care home teams with ad hoc maintenance tasks as needed

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Proven experience in a maintenance, caretaker, or facilities role
  • Basic skills in plumbing, joinery, painting, and general repairs
  • A proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • A full UK driving licence (essential, as you'll work across two sites)
  • An understanding of health and safety practices

Experience within a care home or healthcare setting would be an advantage, but not essential — training will be provided.
