Welder/Fabricator/Fitter

Reporting To: Assistant Quarry Manager

Based: Needingworth & support at Witham

Fabrication Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, and repairing metal structures, components, and frameworks using various tools and techniques. They work with blueprints, technical drawings, and measurements to ensure precision and structural integrity in fabrication projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Fabrication & Assembly:
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Cut, shape, and assemble metal components using welding, bolting, or riveting techniques.
  • Ensure proper alignment and fitting of parts.
  • Welding & Cutting:
  • Operate welding equipment such as MIG, TIG, and arc welders.
  • Use gas and plasma cutters to shape metal parts accurately.
  • Perform grinding, polishing, and finishing as required.
  • Quality Control & Inspection:
  • Check measurements and specifications to ensure accuracy.
  • Inspect finished products for defects and correct any inconsistencies.
  • Follow industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Machine Operation & Tools Handling:
  • Work with lathes, drills, grinders, and other fabrication machinery.
  • Maintain and calibrate tools for precision work.
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor machinery faults.
  • Safety & Compliance:
  • Follow workplace safety guidelines and use protective equipment.
  • Handle hazardous materials responsibly.
  • Adhere to company and industry regulations for fabrication work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification in welding, fabrication, or mechanical fitting is preferred

SKILLS:

  • Technical Skills: Welding, cutting, machining, and blueprint reading.
  • Mechanical Knowledge: Understanding of metal properties and fabrication processes.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve fitting issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in measurements and assembly.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to handle heavy materials and work in demanding environments.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience:
  • 1-3 years in metal fabrication, welding, or related industries.
  • Hands-on experience in structural or industrial fitting.
  • Basic HGV/ PLANT and trailer repairs experience would be an advantage.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £60,000.00-£70,000.00 per year
