The Role

The candidate will be involved in a caseload with a renewable energy focus. This role offers a unique chance to work at the intersection of traditional rural practice and the evolving renewable energy sector.

You will advise landowners, developers and investors on a wide range of matters including land transactions, option and lease agreements, grid connection issues, and diversification strategies. The role provides exposure to high-quality work and the opportunity to contribute to Scotland's clean energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

Advising retained estate and landowning clients on commercial leases, options and leases for renewable energy projects across technologies including wind, solar, battery storage, hydro, hydrogen, biogas and emerging innovations.

  • Providing practical, commercial advice on all aspects of rural property law.
  • Undertaking security work for commercial lenders.
  • Involvement in sales, purchases and leases of estates, forests, farms, natural capital assets and rural development projects.
  • Advising on law reform and its impact on clients.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across planning, corporate and dispute resolution teams.
  • Managing a personal caseload and contributing to business development.
About You
  • 2 to 6 years PQE with experience in rural, commercial property or energy law.
  • Strong client focus and commercial awareness.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive approach to business development.
