Responsible Individual – Children's Residential Home

Service: Two-bed EBD Children's Home (ages 8–18, all genders)
Hours: 16 hours per week (2 days)
Pay: £350-£500 per day
Junella Care is seeking an experienced and passionate Responsible Individual to support the opening and Ofsted registration of our very first children's residential home. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in shaping a new service, establishing high standards and ensuring our home is fully compliant, safe and aligned with our commitment to outstanding residential childcare.

Junella Children's Services is a newly established residential childcare provider based in Harrogate. Our mission is to offer a safe, nurturing and empowering home environment where children and young people can heal, build resilience and develop essential life skills for adulthood.

Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Responsible Individual within an Ofsted-registered children's home
- Strong safeguarding knowledge aligned with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards
- Experience in managing professional teams and overseeing children's care plans
- Ability to work in partnership with key agencies including Ofsted, LADO, Health, Police and other professionals
- Full, clear UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Enhanced DBS check
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the home operates in accordance with its Statement of Purpose and meets all Ofsted requirements
- Ensure full compliance with the Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards and implement any new policies or guidance
- Create, review and update the home's policies and procedures in line with legislation and regulatory changes
- Demonstrate strong operational leadership and a comprehensive understanding of legislation, policy and best practice
- Support the management team with recruitment processes, ensuring full compliance with safer recruitment protocols
- Use and oversee an integrated childcare computer system to support recording, compliance and data management
- Provide clear organisational and administrative oversight, including prioritising tasks and delegating effectively
- Mentor, develop and coach the management team to strengthen leadership capability within the home
- Work collaboratively with the Registered Manager to monitor, review and plan services
- Proactively safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people
- Ensure a safe, structured and nurturing environment and challenge unsafe practices promptly
