About VGP
VGP is a leading pan-European developer, manager and owner of high-quality logistics and semi-industrial real estate. With operations in 18 countries, VGP combines a family-owned culture with a publicly listed company's ambition, delivering Grade A logistics parks and sustainable industrial buildings.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager/Construction Professional to join our UK construction function. Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the lifecycle of development projects, from supporting the land acquisition and planning process team, through design and procurement, to managing our on-site delivery team and tenant handover.
You will be expected to:
Take a hands-on role in commercial management, procurement, and cost reporting.
Oversee design and technical coordination, supported by external consultants where required.
Act as the key point of accountability for delivering projects safely, on programme, and to VGP's quality and sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
Take end-to-end responsibility for assigned UK projects, from conception through to completion.
Manage design development, procurement, construction, and handover in line with VGP's specifications and UK standards.
Act as primary project contact with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and tenants.
Commercial & Procurement
Prepare and manage cost plans, budgets, and cash flow forecasts.
Lead procurement of subcontract packages, including tendering, contract administration, and variation control supported by external consultants where required.
Oversee commercial reporting (CVRs, payment notices, final accounts).
Negotiate and manage consultant and supplier appointments.
Design & Technical Coordination
Manage consultants through the planning, design and technical stages.
Ensure planning conditions, BREEAM/EPC targets, and VGP design standards are achieved.
Resolve technical queries between VGP's design team and Contractors as well as coordinating responses to tenant-driven requirements.
Construction Delivery
Oversee project programmes, risk registers, and site logistics.
Drive progress with contractors, ensuring compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
Monitor site performance, conduct regular progress reviews with onsite Management, and resolve delivery issues quickly.
Handover & Close-Out
Coordinate QA/ITP closeout, O&M documentation, as-builts, and tenant handover, along side our onsite Management team.
Support lessons learned reviews and continuous improvement processes.
Candidate Profile
Degree-qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
Strong commercial background — ideally having worked as a Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager, or Project Manager with QS experience.
Proven track record of managing industrial/logistics projects from inception through to completion.
Detailed knowledge of UK construction contracts (JCT, NEC), procurement, and cost management.
Solid understanding of planning, design coordination, and sustainability requirements (BREEAM, EU Taxonomy)
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Self-starter able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities across commercial, design, and delivery.
Ambition to grow with the business and contribute to building the UK construction team.
