Staff are expected to participate in shift work including evenings and weekends, The shift pattern for this post is to be confirmed.

This is a Fixed term post for the duration between 24/01/26 to 21/01/27

As an integral senior member of the Community addictions service the post-holder will work in partnership demonstrating compassionate caring behaviours to fulfil the key functions of the community additions service. The post holder will carry caseload of alcohol and drug patients and perform nursing duties for all service users. The post holder would also support the duty team, carry out all routine mental health assessments required for psychology referrals and any urgent mental health assessments and requested bloods for any patient and any other nursing duties.

The post holder will be responsible for assessment, formulation, implementation and evaluation of programmes relating to alcohol and drug recovery using a strength-based recovery focused approach to care that proactively involves the person. Defining the level of need of problematic alcohol and/or drug use patients and providing a range of information and education regarding treatment and support available. The post holder would provide home visits/ near to home community environments to implement the above interventions when the service user is unable to attend the service due to poor physical or mental health.

The post holder should have a working knowledge and be able to contribute to the delivery of MAT standards, GGC board wide ADRS Alcohol Pathway and GGC board wide ADRS nursing work plan.

Participating in as well as providing regular Nurse Supervision and undertaking Nursing Line Management responsibilities are critical aspects of the role. The post holder is responsible for proactively promoting partnership working with patients, carers and other professionals/ agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies. Duties will include supervising the practice of junior members of staff and students monitoring undertaking mentorship/ preceptorship responsibilities are important key functions and aspects of this role.

It is essential that you are currently a registered Nurse Level 1 NMC registration and have two years' experience at a band 5 level. Preference for addiction or community experience.
