Job Description
Role Overview:
We are currently recruiting for an Associate Director/Director-level, Asset Based Lending (ABL) specialist, within our Debt Advisory team.
You will lead the origination, structuring, and execution of ABL debt transactions for mid-market sponsor and corporate clients. This role requires deep expertise in both traditional ABL structures and broader debt advisory solutions, including acquisition finance, and refinancing strategies. You will work closely with Partners to deliver high-quality outcomes for clients and support the strategic growth of the team.
Key Responsibilities
Origination & Business Development
- Identify and originate new ABL debt advisory mandates through direct client engagement, intermediary networks, and private equity relationships.
- Work across FRP service lines to identify and execute ABL debt advisory mandates
- Develop tailored financing solutions aligned with clients' strategic objectives (e.g., M&A, growth capital, working capital optimization).
- Maintain and expand a strong network of ABL lenders, including banks, credit funds, and alternative finance providers.
Transaction Execution
- Lead / support end-to-end execution of ABL debt transactions, including structuring, negotiation, and documentation.
- Coordinate with internal teams/service lines and external stakeholders (lenders, advisors, lawyers).
- Oversee financial modelling, covenant analysis, and capital structure optimization.
Strategic Advisory
- Provide independent advice on debt capacity, funding options, and market conditions.
- Support clients through refinancing, recapitalization, and covenant resets.
- Advise on the integration of ABL facilities within broader capital structures.
- Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory developments, and emerging financing structures.
Leadership & Team Development
- Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Provide guidance on technical and commercial aspects of ABL transactions to the wider team.
- Contribute to strategic planning and growth of the debt advisory and ABL service line.
- Represent the firm at industry events and thought leadership forums.
Key Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in debt advisory or ABL (direct lending or advisory).
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of ABL structures (receivables, inventory, plant & machinery, commercial property, cashflow), debt markets, legal documentation, advanced financial modelling and analytical skills.
- Communication style: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Network: Established relationships with private equity firms, corporate clients and ABL lenders.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong track record of originating opportunities, leading transactions and closing deals.
- Leadership: Collaborative leadership style, with a passion for developing talent and fostering a high-performance culture.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- ACA, CFA, or MBA desirable.
- Experience across multiple sectors (e.g., manufacturing, retail, logistics, healthcare).
- Familiarity with cross-border financing and syndicated loan structures.
