Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom Arm Full time £60,000 - £120,000 per year

Job Overview

In this role, you'll play a key part in developing and leading data centre network initiatives, working collaboratively with diverse Infrastructure and Global Networks teams across multiple time zones. Together, you'll deliver change and transformation across business-critical services. Some out-of-hours work may occasionally be required to support global operations.

You'll bring your expertise as a skilled Data Centre Network Engineer to design, implement, manage, and support the networking infrastructure that underpins our data centres. You'll possess a strong knowledge of enterprise networking technologies, particularly Cisco ACI and Cisco SD-WAN, ensuring our networks are secure, scalable, and high-performing. Experience with automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) will help you develop efficient and reliable solutions that strengthen Arm's global infrastructure.

We're seeking an individual who is curious, motivated, and collaborative, possessing deep technical skills and the ability to deliver results under pressure. You'll take ownership of outcomes, document your work clearly, and share your knowledge generously to help others grow and succeed.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available network infrastructure across Arm's global data centres.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network issues across multiple platforms, performing root-cause analysis and driving long-term solutions.
  • Monitor and optimize network performance to enhance reliability, efficiency, and user experience.
  • Automate and innovate network configuration and management using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Python, and APIs to improve consistency and reduce manual effort.
  • Collaborate effectively with cloud, systems, and security teams to build cohesive, high-performing infrastructure that delivers business value.
  • Document and share knowledge by maintaining clear design standards, configurations, and procedures, while contributing to team learning through coaching and mentoring.
  • Stay curious and informed about emerging technologies and trends in data centre and enterprise networking to improve our environment continuously.
  • Contribute to global support coverage by participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation, responding to network incidents in a calm and solution-focused manner.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A highly motivated, dedicated and honest individual with good interpersonal skills and an inclusive approach.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – ideally the Data Centre or Enterprise specialized.
  • 3+ years' hands-on experience working within data centre networking environments.
  • Strong expertise with Cisco ACI, including design, deployment, and support.
  • Solid foundation of network security, firewalls, and standard methodologies for segmentation.

"Nice To Have" Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with open network operating systems such as SONiC, or a strong interest in learning and working with open networking technologies.
  • Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) architectures and services, with an understanding of how they enhance agility, scalability, and automation.
  • Exposure to hybrid or multi-cloud networking across platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or enthusiasm to develop these skills.
  • Understanding of high-performance computing (HPC) networking concepts and technologies, particularly in large-scale or research environments.

In Return:

We offer an outstanding opportunity to join Arm at a time of growth and development. You will join an engaging, innovative, and diverse team within an encouraging and supportive environment, crafted to foster development and nurture success.
