SEN Teaching Assistant – Year 4 | Barnet Primary School

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with strong behaviour management skills and training in Makaton and PECS?

A welcoming primary school in Enfield is seeking a dedicated and compassionate TA to join their team, supporting pupils in Year 4 with additional learning needs.

About the Role

  • Full-time position supporting pupils with communication and social interaction difficulties.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual learning plans.
  • Use Makaton and PECS to enhance communication and engagement.
  • Manage behaviour positively using proven strategies to create a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Support classroom learning, small group work, and one-to-one interventions.

About You

  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly ASD and speech/communication needs.
  • Trained in Makaton and PECS.
  • Confident with behaviour management and able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly.
  • Patient, empathetic, and passionate about helping children reach their potential.
  • Previous classroom experience in a primary school setting is essential.
