About The London Metal Exchange
The London Metal Exchange (LME) is the world centre for industrial metals trading. Most of the world's global non-ferrous futures business is conducted on the LME's three trading platforms totalling $18 trillion, 178 million lots and 4 billion tonnes with a market open interest high of 1.8 million lots in 2024.
The metals community uses the LME, an HKEX Group company, as a venue to transfer or take on price risk, as a physical market of last resort and as the provider of transparent global reference prices.
Overall Purpose of Role:
To provide level 2 technical support for the LME's applications to both internal departments and external customers (clients). The range of applications covers Middle and Back office as well as Market Data. Specifically, to provide technical support in a project based structure to ensure the successful delivery of application solutions. The job also consists of prioritising and progressing resolution of faults or queries on the full range of applications across all clients, suggesting methods to build and implement measurable improvements to the services, undertaking day to day work with Production Incidents and the implementation of change by performing a QA after any work. Troubleshooting issues relating to the network, database, infrastructure and applications. Contributing to serious incident, change and problem management.
Responsibilities:
- Provide production support and maintenance for a full range of Pre and Post Trade applications including project related activities.
- Perform a level of monitoring, tuning and optimisation of performance.
- Create and update all documents related to applications and their supporting systems.
- To support production and pre-production environments.
- To maintain disaster recovery solutions across different domains.
- To recommend new or changed standards to ensure improved efficiency, effectiveness, and robustness for all environments.
- Respond quickly to Production issues taking responsibility for seeing those issues through to resolution, recording all actions taken and communicating the impact of the actions to the appropriate levels of management.
- Provide 24x7x365 support and incident response.
- Flexibility to work in shifts (as per roaster) and during weekends and extended hours when needed.
Academic and Professional Qualifications Required:
- University degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
Desirable Knowledge and Level of Experience:
- Good technical skills in SQL.
- Good Linux/Unix secure shell scripting.
- Python scripting.
- Good analytical and diagnostic skills.
- Good Windows skills.

- Customer facing, can work with multiple stakeholders including production colleagues, 3rd party suppliers and project teams.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
