Overview

We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice or Junior Web Developer
to join our growing development team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their web development career who is keen to gain hands-on experience and grow their technical skills in a supportive environment.

You'll work alongside our experienced development team and contribute to real-world web projects while learning how to build and maintain websites and applications using modern technologies like

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of websites and web applications.
  • Write clean, maintainable code using
    PHP
    and
    JavaScript
    .
  • Build and style responsive front-end components using
    HTML5
    and
    CSS3
    (including Flexbox/Grid).
  • Work with
    MySQL/MariaDB
    databases to store, retrieve, and manipulate data.
  • Participate in code reviews and team meetings to learn and improve.
  • Troubleshoot bugs and contribute to resolving technical issues.
  • Follow version control practices (e.g., Git).
  • Learn and apply best practices in web development, security, and accessibility.

Technical Skills Required

You don't need to be an expert—but you should have a basic knowledge of the following:

: Understanding of basic syntax, server-side scripting, and working with forms.

  • JavaScript
    : Familiarity with DOM manipulation and basic event handling.
  • MySQL or MariaDB
    : Understanding of CRUD operations, basic SELECT statements, and working with PHP.
  • HTML5
    : Solid grasp of semantic HTML structure and form elements.
  • CSS3
    : Ability to style elements, use layout systems like Flexbox and Grid, and create responsive designs.
  • Experience with WordPress or another PHP-based CMS.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git/GitHub).
  • Awareness of REST APIs and JSON.
  • Basic understanding of web security and accessibility best practices.

Qualifications

We require a minimum of five GCSEs at a grade 4 or above, including English and Maths.
