The OpportunityAre you an ambitious researcher and writer passionate about turning complex issues into actionable policy?
MF PRO is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual for a 3-month Policy, Research, and Advocacy Internship. This is a fast-track opportunity designed for top talent: upon successful completion of the 3-month period, you will transition into a permanent, paid position within our team (e.g., Policy Analyst or Research Associate).
This role offers a unique chance to work on high-impact projects from day one, influencing public debate and government decision-making.
Requirements
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful intern will be integral to our team, focusing on the full policy lifecycle from conception to execution. Your responsibilities will include:
Policy Research & Analysis- In-depth Research: Conducting comprehensive research and literature reviews on key policy areas relevant to our mission.
- Data Analysis: Gathering, cleaning, and analysing qualitative and quantitative data to support policy arguments and identify trends.
- Policy Understanding: Monitoring current legislative and political developments in the UK and internationally to inform organizational strategy.
- Writing Policy Papers: Drafting clear, concise, and persuasive policy briefings, white papers, reports, and consultation responses for diverse audiences.
- Briefing Material: Preparing detailed briefing notes and presentations for senior leadership ahead of external meetings and engagements.
- Advocacy Strategy: Supporting the development and execution of advocacy strategies to influence policymakers and stakeholders.
- Communication: Assisting with external communication, including drafting content for our website, newsletters, and social media platforms.
- International Travel: Be prepared to undertake travel abroad if required (e.g., to attend conferences, meetings with international partners, or conduct field research).
We are searching for one exceptional individual who possesses the following skills and attributes:
- Exceptional Policy Acumen: A demonstrable ability to rapidly understand complex policy frameworks and legislation.
- Proven Research Skills: Strong methodological skills in both qualitative and quantitative research.
- Superior Writing and Communication: Outstanding ability to articulate complex ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively in written format, suitable for both academic and public audiences.
- Analytical Rigour: Experience in policy analysis, including assessing the potential impact and feasibility of different policy options.
- Proactivity and Drive: Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Education: A degree (or current pursuit of) in Political Science, Economics, International Relations, Law, Public Policy, or a related field.
