Job Purpose
Reporting into the Despatch Supervisor you will ensure the safe and efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of warehouse materials, goods and products to feed business operations and customer demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring all orders are processed efficiently, compliantly and within required time limit.
- Store the right amount of materials, goods and products in the right location to feed the business's operational and customer demand
- Take delivery of goods and supplies
- Check for damaged or missing items
- Move stock around either by hand, using lifting equipment or a fork lift truck
- Load goods for dispatch
- Ensure delivery of materials to production lines in accordance with production standards
- Ensure that all lifting and manoeuvring of product is carried out in accordance with manual handling procedures
- Operate in a safe manner complying with all health, safety and environmental requirements to ensure own and safety of others
- Handle any hazardous materials in an appropriate manner
- Keep areas of work clean and tidy to ensure operational efficiency
- Make recommendations to aid efficiency and add value
- Responsible for the accurate fulfilment of orders from goods in and stock replenishment through to picking and packing.
- Be willing to maintain a clean and safe workstation
- Working in a manner that promotes good health and safety practices, wearing any personal protective equipment provided
- Be willing to undertake some manual handling, bending and reaching as part of your normal duties.
- Processing returns and goods inwards
- Picking, packing and labelling orders for dispatch with accuracy and without delay
- Manually loading courier vehicles
- Checking, sorting and putting away deliveries
- All enquiries should be handled promptly and accurately.
- Any other tasks which can reasonable be performed as requested by your line manager
- To take responsibility for your own health, safety and welfare, being conversant and ensuring compliance with the organisation's policies and procedures
- To undertake all reasonable training, learning and development activity designed to support you in your role
- To be responsible for your own behaviour and act in a manner that avoids and discourages any form of discrimination or harassment
- To be responsible for the activities required to support the organisation's Quality Policy
- Work in a safe manner and comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Good numeracy and IT skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to plan and organise work
- Ability to accurately complete paperwork and count stock items
- An understanding of health and safety requirements
- Flexible approach to duties and tasks
- Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure / cost of poor quality
- No experience may be required as training may be undertaken on the job
- A fork lift truck licence and/or licence to drive assisted lift equipment is desirable
- Shows moral courage, openness and honesty and has a collaborative approach when dealing with others
- The ability to work in a team, within a productivity range, and contribute positively to its activities.
