Theatre Porto is a theatre company, venue and charity based in Ellesmere Port. We work with children and young people as creative collaborators, to make professional and aspirational theatre which we share locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. We run year-round engagement projects for children and young people. We are in our fourth year of operating our state-of-the-art arts and cultural centre in the middle of beautiful Whitby Park, as well as a home from which to create, support and develop theatre for audiences regionally and nationally.

Our venue includes a 144-seat flexible theatre space, a café, workshop and rehearsal spaces and office spaces for our own team and for partner organisations and tenants.

The cleaner's job is to support the Venue team in keeping the building clean throughout the week. They are primarily responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation of all bathroom facilities. This includes cleaning toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, and replenishing supplies to ensure a safe, pleasant, and hygienic environment for users. Other cleaning jobs may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, and walls.
  • Refill toilet paper, soap, hand towels, air fresheners, and other supplies.
  • Empty bins and dispose of waste properly.
  • Report any maintenance or repair needs (e.g., leaks, broken fixtures).
  • Follow proper cleaning and sanitation procedures.
  • Ensure cleaning materials and chemicals are used safely and stored correctly.
  • Maintain a high standard of hygiene at all times.
  • Follow company safety and health regulations, including wearing protective gear.
  • Window cleaning
  • Dusting, mopping and tidying of allocated public and staff areas on rotation.
  • Previous cleaning experience preferred (but not always required).

  • Basic knowledge of cleaning products and safe chemical handling.

  • Good attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Physical stamina to perform manual cleaning tasks.

  • Reliability and punctuality.

  • Must undergo an enhanced DBS check (we will provide)

  • Will be welcoming and warm to all staff, visitors, children, young people and families they encounter.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 6 per week
