JOB TITLE: Learner Pathways Officer (Digital Marketing and student recruitment)

REPORTS TO: Learner Pathways; Marketing and Liaison Lead

WORK PATTERN: Full Time (37 hpw), Term Time + 1 week (200 days)

CONTRACT: Permanent

SALARY: SSP11 £28,634pa FTE. Actual £25,228pa

Purpose of the Role

Lead by your manager as part of a dynamic team you will:

· Enhance and evolve the John Leggott College (JLC) brand identity, ensuring it remains modern, distinctive, and aligned with the college's values, mission, and strategic objectives.

· Drive innovative and impactful digital and traditional marketing campaigns that engage prospective students, parents, and the wider community across multiple platforms.

· Effectively communicate the JLC experience and values, showcasing the college's strengths, achievements, and student success stories through creative storytelling and high-quality content.

· Support student recruitment, retention, and conversion, by developing engaging marketing materials, managing digital engagement journeys, and monitoring the effectiveness of campaigns throughout the admissions cycle.

· Represent and promote the college at key internal and external events, acting as a professional and enthusiastic ambassador for JLC, and serving as the primary link between the college and partner schools.

· Collaborate closely with the Marketing Manager and wider team to produce high-quality "Keeping in Touch" materials and communications that enhance engagement and conversion from application to enrolment.

· Track, analyse, and report on student engagement and outreach activity, identifying trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement within schools and the wider recruitment landscape.

· Contribute proactively to a creative, data-driven, and collaborative marketing environment, ensuring that all digital and offline activities support the college's strategic priorities and community reputation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Digital Marketing Strategy & Execution

· Develop and implement digital marketing plans aligned with the college's recruitment, brand, and communication objectives.

· Create and manage online campaigns across platforms

· Respond to monitored performance metrics

· Collaborate with admissions, alumni, and academic departments to support recruitment and outreach campaigns.

2. Website Development

· Maintain, update, and improve the college's website to ensure accurate, engaging, and accessible content.

· Work with internal departments to keep course information, news, and events up to date.

· Ensure web content aligns with brand tone and compliance.

3. Content Creation & Management

· Create and manage digital content (blogs, news stories, videos, graphics, student testimonials).

· Support the team and students in generating engaging, high-quality content that promotes the college experience.

· Contribute to photography, video shoots, and design projects related to digital marketing.

4. Analytics, SEO & Reporting

· Use analytics tools to track performance.

· Conduct SEO audits and implement improvements to boost organic visibility.

· Track user journeys and recommend UX improvements for the website.

5. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

· Work closely with the LPT and alongside admissions and the academic teams to align messaging.

· Support events (open days, recruitment fairs) through digital promotion.

· Liaise with external agencies or partners where needed (advertising, creative, or technical).

· Train or guide staff on basic CMS or social media best practices.

6. Brand & Compliance

· Ensure all digital materials align with college branding guidelines.

· Maintain compliance with data protection, accessibility, and copyright standards.

· Uphold the college's reputation through appropriate online representation.

IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE-MENTIONED ATTRIBUTES THE POSTHOLDER WILL BE EXPECTED TO:

  • Work in any capacity, as directed by Pathway team Lead (Marketing and Liaison), to support all areas of the service, as need requires.
  • To build relationships with students and advocate their views, opinions and needs.
  • Achieve agreed targets and performance indicators across all areas of responsibility.
  • Assist with general student support activities and additional events such as open evening's, results days, taster days and enrolments, as required.
  • Access training and development opportunities, both internally and externally, to maximise job-specific skills and experience across the whole service.
  • Work with partner colleges and other cross-college departments to deliver joint functions and service and strengthen cross-college regional provision.
  • Work within a target-setting and quality improvement framework for the area, including benchmarking service and performance against key KPIs
  • Work with, meet with and support colleagues across different functions of the college in terms of the service for learners.
  • Work in line with college policies – e.g. Health and Safety or Equality and Diversity.
  • Support the safeguarding of learners at all times.
  • Work within an allocated budget and comply with financial regulations.
  • Explore and improve the use of social media and mobile technology as a communication tool for HE, Apprenticeship, enterprise, work experience, employability and enrichment research.
  • Attend, as necessary, meetings of all College Staff.
