Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Heating Engineer & Plumber to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating systems as well as bathrooms, toilets, showers at a property refurbishment in Hitchin. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, practical skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality. The position offers an excellent opportunity for additional work within this and future projects. Whilst the job post is for 1 week, this may be extended.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair a wide range of heating systems, including boilers, radiators, and underfloor heating.
- Conduct maintenance check to ensure optimal functioning of heating equipment.
- Diagnose faults accurately and perform necessary repairs using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Utilise welding, plumbing, carpentry, and assembly skills to modify or adapt heating components as required.
- Operate power tools and hand tools safely and efficiently during installation and repair tasks.
- Perform heavy lifting when handling large or bulky equipment components.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, parts used, and any issues encountered.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times to minimise risks during operations.
- Assist with the training of apprentices or junior staff when necessary.
Skills
- Proven experience with welding, plumbing, carpentry, and assembly work related to heating systems.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment for installation and repairs.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Basic maths skills for measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting tasks.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in various working environments.
- Valid commercial driving licence preferred for site visits or transporting equipment.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in completing documentation accurately.
- Good communication skills for liaising with clients and team members effectively. This role is ideal for a motivated professional eager to apply their technical expertise in a dynamic environment while contributing to high-quality heating solutions across diverse settings.
