The Carpenter's Arms is a values-led charity providing a meaningful alternative to traditional residential addiction recovery, based in Leicestershire, with our Head office located in Six Hills, Melton Mowbray. Our focus is on creating a safe, welcoming environment where innovation, compassion, and shared purpose drive everything we do. Through collaborative working and person-centred support, we empower individuals on their journey to long-term sobriety and stable, independent living.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you'll play a key role in helping residents on their path to recovery — offering both practical support and spiritual encouragement. You'll contribute to a safe, structured and caring environment, helping residents develop life skills and personal responsibility as part of their rehabilitation programme.
This is a hands-on and rewarding role where no two days are the same. From overseeing housing management and property care to delivering group sessions and one-to-one support, you'll help residents grow in confidence and stability as they rebuild their lives.
Key Responsibilities
Housing & Property Care
- Ensure the safety and security of residents and the building, particularly during lone-working shifts.
- Report maintenance issues promptly and support property upkeep to a high standard.
- Assist with new resident inductions, explaining house rules and use of appliances.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across all communal areas, including kitchens and laundry.
- Complete daily records, logs, and checklists as required.
Resident Support & Rehabilitation
- Build positive, supportive relationships with residents based on trust and respect.
- Support individuals to engage in the rehabilitation programme, helping them set and achieve personal goals.
- Provide ongoing one-to-one support, helping residents adapt to community living and prepare for independence.
- Liaise with external professionals such as probation, social services and mental health teams to ensure joined-up care.
Team & Administrative Duties
- Work closely with colleagues and management to ensure consistent, high-quality support.
- Keep accurate records and follow all administrative and financial procedures.
- Contribute to team meetings, supervision, and training to support continuous development.
- Uphold The Carpenter's Arms' values, policies, and code of conduct in all areas of work.
What We're Looking For
- A committed Christian with a heart for seeing lives transformed through faith.
- Compassionate, patient, and resilient — able to support people through challenges.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Experience in support work, housing, or rehabilitation (desirable but not essential — training provided).
