Job Description
Job Purpose:

We are seeking a dynamic and adaptable Training and Development Care Supervisor to lead the onboarding and skill development of new care staff working in the community care sector. This role involves shadowing and supporting staff during their early stages, ensuring they are confident and competent in delivering high-quality care to clients in their own homes. The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to respond effectively to a wide range of care situations.

Job Summary
To assist the care manager and director in the effective of all services to the clients whilst shadow training new staff within the community. Ensuring a high standard of individual care at all times by properly utilizing the resources available and implementing agreed care plans and policies as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Induct, shadow, and train new staff members in the community to ensure safe and effective care practices.
  • Support staff in real-world environments, providing hands-on guidance, feedback, and mentorship.
  • Adapt training methods to suit individual learning styles and community care scenarios.
  • Assess staff performance during training and probation periods and report progress to management.
  • Ensure compliance with care standards, policies, and procedures at all times.
  • Support clients in their own homes with personal care, medication administration, mobility, meal preparation, and companionship.
  • Be responsive to client needs and able to step in when required to provide direct care.
  • Maintain accurate training and care documentation in line with regulatory and organisational requirements.
  • Collaborate with other supervisors and managers to continuously improve training programs.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Be a point of call for new staff to assist with queries and support.

  • To ensure that we work as a team at all times and that we show all care staff the professional and supportive manor in which we expect back from them, always be supportive to team.
  • To assist the management with spot checks, community observations, reviews as this will play an important role within your job description.

  • Reporting and recording through spot checks and observations.
  • Attend all training requirements
  • To record and observe the progress of the clients within their own homes and notify management and care staff of any changes of their progress.
  • To assist the care manager and director in the maintenance of good professional relationships with the people attending client homes.
  • Caring for individual's within their own properties, undertaking any aspect of home management within their home as required, i.e., domestic work, preparing individual's clothing, participating in the preparation of meals, laundry and cleaning, etc as specified in each care individual care plan.
  • To play an active part in promoting good public relations in the locality so as to increase public awareness of and support for, the aims and objectives, promote independence and the safety of all clients.
  • To report immediately any incidents / accidents of ill – treatment, verbal, physical or mental to any individual to manager.
  • Report any complaint made by clients or family member, relative, friends, etc. to the care manager.
  • To assist in the development of effective and needs – led care plans under the direction of the senior staff.
  • To attend staff meeting and client review meetings and make a valuable contribution it.
  • To inform the care manager or director of any equipment or materials that may need re – ordering or any items that are defective and require repair.
  • Carry out care calls as when required
  • Medicines management
  • On call phone to support on call officers when required as backup.

Essential
Person Specification:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care /Qualified Proven experience in care work and training others in a care setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skill
  • Flexible with working hours and available to work evenings/weekends if needed
  • Ability to travel across the community and work in different client homes
  • Compassionate, respectful, and culturally sensitive
  • Confident in managing complex or changing care environments
  • Strong record-keeping and reporting skills
  • Full driving licence, business insurance and own vehicle.
