Duration: 18-month contract

Reports to: Director of Corporate Outreach

Based: Frankfurt or London with flexibility to work from home regularly. ISSB operates under a multi-location operating model; morning and evening calls will occur occasionally.

Job Purpose:    The Director of Regional Corporate Engagement will lead corporate engagement in support of the ISSB's work with preparers in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region and the Asia-Oceania (AO) region. This role will also engage with the accountancy profession globally.

The team

  • The Director of Regional Corporate Engagement will report to the global Director of Corporate Outreach and work closely with colleagues in other regions and with other teams under the Chief of Market Relationships including regulatory affairs and investor engagement. This ISSB Engagement team works alongside and in support of the ISSB board, the Communications and Events teams, Strategic Affairs, and technical staff.

Principal accountabilities

You will work with the Director of Corporate Outreach in, among other things, managing relationships with preparers and industry associations, including:

  • Helping shape and refine the ISSB's strategy for engaging with preparers as well as with the accountancy profession. Lead implementation of relevant aspects of the strategy and advise on ways to adapt the strategy as needed.
  • Managing relationships with identified preparer industry associations and professional organisations as well as groups in the accountancy profession
  • Guiding the work of secondees and/or junior outreach staff in the Beijing and Tokyo offices of the IFRS Foundation to ensure alignment with the corporate and accounting outreach strategies
  • Working collaboratively with others in the Foundation who maintain relationships with accountancy and preparer relationships, particularly ISSB members, ISSB technical staff and colleagues focused on the work of the IASB and/or revenue-related relationships
  • Representing the organisation at preparer- and accountancy-focused events, particularly in EMEA and AO
  • Liaising with ISSB staff and board members as needed to compile and/or develop materials for preparers and/or the accountancy profession

Qualifications & experience

  • Extensive experience working with corporate disclosure, audit/assurance practices, or related fields
  • Strong understanding of the sustainability disclosure landscape and related global developments
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with preparers, industry associations, professional organisations, and the accountancy profession
  • Experience working in an international, multi-location, or multi-stakeholder environment, ideally with EMEA and/or AO regional expertise
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams, geographies, and cultures
  • Experience in leading or guiding junior staff members
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills, with experience representing organisations at external events
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages are an asset)
  • An understanding of the mission of the IFRS Foundation and the work of the ISSB
  • Motivation to help establish a global baseline for sustainability-related financial disclosures

Skills and attributes

Candidates who wish to be considered for this role must also:

  • Have strong proficiency in contributing to the development of a strategic plan and then successfully implementing it: namely, identifying what to achieve, how to achieve it, who will be involved and in what way.
  • Demonstrate outstanding organisation, time management, and communication skills
  • Thrive both in a team environment and independently
  • Have strong process orientation and ability to suggest improvements
  • Have experience using a CRM (preferably Salesforce) to track engagement with external audiences, and to develop and run reports
  • Be comfortable with fast-changing conditions—flexibility is important
  • FSA Credential a plus
