Lionheart School is a provision that supports some of the most vulnerable children on the Isle of Wight. We provide a stimulating, nurturing environment for a range of students who for a variety of reasons are unable to attend mainstream schools. This could be due to medical needs, being emotionally vulnerable or having behavioural difficulties.
Due to the expansion of Lionheart School and the creation of a second campus, Lionheart are looking for cleaners to join our Cowes team
Job Purpose
Under the direction/instruction of senior staff – provide a clean and hygienic school environment which meets specified cleaning standards.
Major Tasks
Promote equality as an integral part of a role and treat everyone with fairness and dignity
To develop and maintain a generic skill set that allows the Isle of Wight Council to employ your skills, abilities and experience across the Council and its formal partnerships as needed.

3. Every post holder at the school has responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students and staff at the school
Principal responsibilities
- Provide efficient and effective cleaning support to the Cowes Lionheart School site, including ensuring the security and general appearance of the buildings and surrounding areas are maintained in accordance with the required standards.
- Cleaners are responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly environment. This role ensures that facilities are presented to a high standard.
- Ability to manage work time and to work independently
- An understanding of infection prevention control is essential
- A working knowledge of COSHH regulation including a knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies and equipment.
- Can be adaptable to changing needs.
- Tasks may include, lifting, bending, standing and moving equipment so physical stamina is essential.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Generic Tasks
To work flexibly across the school or in other educational settings as required.
To make an active contribution to the development of the school.
To develop and maintain up to date personal knowledge and expertise in your areas.
To have responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in the school.
To undertake additional tasks as required under the direction of the Headteacher.
