Make a Difference in Education – Support Children with SEN in Maidstone

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are looking for dedicated and adaptable SEN Teaching Assistants to work in a variety of school settings across Maidstone, including mainstream primary and secondary schools and specialist SEN provisions.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to work with pupils who have a diverse range of needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD / SLD)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Sensory processing differences
  • Physical disabilities and complex needs

The Role:

As a Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a key role in helping pupils access education, build confidence and independence, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 1:1 or small group support for students with SEN
  • Assisting the class teacher with differentiated activities and resources
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Supporting students' communication, mobility, and personal care (where required)
  • Helping students develop social skills and confidence in the classroom
  • Creating a calm, inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Supporting with transitions, break/lunch supervision and structured play

Ideal Candidate:

We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds, including:

  • Experienced SEN or mainstream Teaching Assistants
  • Graduates (especially in psychology, education, social care or health)
  • Youth workers, care assistants, or support workers
  • People with personal or voluntary experience supporting children or vulnerable adults

You'll need to be:

  • Calm, patient and adaptable
  • A confident communicator, able to build rapport with young people
  • Willing to support pupils with a wide variety of needs
  • Comfortable working collaboratively in a school team
  • Reliable and committed to providing consistent support
  • DBS-checked (or willing to apply) and eligible to work in the UK
