Hi We're cinch, a fresh kind of service that makes life easier for motorists. We know what drivers want, so we've ripped up the rule book to make sure they get it, faff-free

Our mission
– It's simple, to take out all the irritations and hold-ups that make changing cars trickier than it needs to be.

With backing from a large multinational company, this is a very unique opportunity to join a start-up in the early stages of our growth and to join a brand that you'll be proud to have played a key part in building.

You
– So, do you have a faff-free filter? Do you want to work in an energetic team, with open-mindedness and passion? We're looking for people who are agile, full of ideas and want to challenge the norm.

The
BI & Performance Reporting team
play a key role within the cinch Technology function, ensuring that trends, metrics and KPIs are available to a wide range of stakeholders to enable data-led business decisions.

The successful candidate will have a passion for providing data & insight through effective data modelling and data visualisation with the following core objectives;

Develop and maintain best-in-class BI solutions & capabilities that support all key business areas.

Collaborate with a wide range of technical and non-technical colleagues and stakeholders to help to bring data to life; ensuring colleagues have access to, and are empowered by, clear and tangible BI products.

what you'll be working on

  • Designing and developing BI solutions (reports, dashboards, apps, shared semantic models etc), predominantly using Power BI, to fulfil stakeholder requirements.
  • Maintaining, monitoring and optimising BI solutions to ensure the credibility and integrity of the teams' output, actioning bug fixes and opportunities for cost/time savings.
  • Working alongside technical colleagues to build and uphold consistent data models within our cinch Data Warehouse, applying agreed business logic to complex data sources to cost-effectively translate data into reliable, scalable, and defensible data products.
  • Building strong, open & trusting working relationships with key stakeholders, working with them to ensure BI & performance reporting at cinch is delivered in-line with requirements, enabling others to leverage the value of cinch's data.
  • Supporting non-technical colleagues across the business with information, guidance & training to make use of our BI solutions.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve productivity by automating manual data processes.
  • Constantly reviewing the strategic platform positioning to ensure BI solutions remain valuable, available & empowering.
  • Regularly reviewing the output of your own & your peers' work, ensuring high quality, adherence to best practice & punctual delivery of outputs - striving for excellence to maximise value to the team's customers.
  • Coaching, mentoring and gatekeeping BI development from colleagues outside of the BI & Performance Reporting team.
  • Undertaking root cause analysis and assessments when service issues arise, making recommendations to mitigate future re-occurrence.
  • Advocating for BI & data-driven decision making across cinch, championing and facilitating data democratisation across the organisation.
  • Staying abreast of industry trends and best practices in the use of data and advanced BI methods and sharing knowledge acquired to drive continuous improvement.

skills and expertise

  • You'll be an experienced BI & Performance Reporting Developer, with at least 3+ years of BI/MI development experience.
  • You have demonstrable hands-on experience building automated reports, dashboards, apps and shared semantic models using Power BI (or similar BI Tools).
  • You can showcase strong SQL skills – this is required as the primary means of modelling and querying data from the cinch Data Warehouse.
  • You can demonstrate effective stakeholder management, building strong working relationships with all levels of seniority to qualify requirements and deliver MI/BI across fast paced environments.
  • You can proactively and autonomously manage your time and prioritise workloads effectively - you can plan forward to ensure that business expectations and objectives can be managed and met.
  • As a self-starter, you enjoy solving problems. You can take initiative with minimal supervision or guidance and are able to work effectively both independently and as a member of a cross functional team.
  • You have a keen eye for detail, testing your work to ensure that outputs remain accurate and reliable.

Beneficial but not essential:

  • Automotive market knowledge would be valuable but not a pre-requisite.
  • Experience of using Snowflake & dbt to query and transform data to build models.
  • Experience of using JIRA or other workload management tools.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing best practice.
  • Experience in Agile/Sprint/Kanban methodologies and ways of working, contributing to regular team ceremonies (sprints, retros etc)
