About the Role

Medacs Healthcare, in partnership with Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join the dedicated team at HMP Isle of Wight. This is a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality mental health care within a secure environment, supporting some of the most vulnerable individuals in the criminal justice system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health interventions across wellbeing, primary, and secondary care
  • Manage a personal caseload including assessments, care planning, interventions, and reviews
  • Deliver evidence-based care and health promotion tailored to the prison population
  • Conduct risk assessments and offer clinical guidance within a multidisciplinary framework
  • Coordinate care under the Care Programme Approach (CPA)
  • Administer medications and maintain high standards of clinical procedures and documentation
  • Respect and incorporate cultural and spiritual needs into patient care

Requirements

  • NMC registration as a Mental Health Nurse
  • Previous experience in prison healthcare or secure settings preferred
  • Must have valid prison clearance
  • Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
