Bath BA NG, United Kingdom NHS Full time

Are you an aspiring nurse leader who is ready to take on the next challenge? Do you have experience working as a Senior Nurse and have excellent leadership and communication skills?

We are looking for an experienced Sister/Charge Nurse to lead our dedicated Surgical Admissions Unit team. We have an 11 trolley assessment area with a 16 bedded ward attached. We work closely with all our associated specialties and our colleagues in Surgical SDEC to deliver effective assessment and ongoing care of emergency surgical patients.

As a Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse you will work collaboratively with a great nursing team and provide strong leadership, effective team management, and staff development.

You will be responsible for the delivery of clinical services on the ward, coupled with supporting quality governance, patient experience, and nursing workforce and education. You must be able to provide kind, skilled, and expert leadership to support the ward, whilst possessing the ability to innovate, motivate others, and deliver sustained improvements.

Within the surgical division, as a group of Senior Nurses, we are a cohesive team who are supportive of each other. We understand the pressures that each of us face, and work together to provide outstanding care to all our patients, as well as providing strong leadership to our staff.

Your responsibilities would be varied and would include:

Accountable for the twenty-four hour care delivery and management of the Surgical Admissions Unit, including the supervision of staff and students

Maintaining visible presence and providing a clear focus for effective clinical leadership to the team

Professionally accountable and responsible for assessing skill mix and team structures and implementing changes in working practices ensuring that care processes and systems support the delivery of high quality patient care

Promoting a personalised patient centred approach to care in collaboration with carers, relatives and health care professionals.

Working collaboratively with PALS and patient forums to investigate and resolve patient concerns and complaints

Ensuring the rights, dignity, privacy, respect and confidentiality of all our patients

Holding regular ward meetings, providing the opportunity for all our staff to discuss and also to share organisational and professional information

Implementing staff wellbeing standards and promoting a culture where staff feel valued and listened to

At the RUH we put people at the heart of what we do, working together as one team to make a difference for our patients, each other, and our community. No matter what your role is, we value everyone's contribution in supporting the exceptional, person-centred care we pride ourselves on.

We are proud to be in the top 20 best hospitals to work for in the country.

We are committed to creating a compassionate and inclusive environment. This can be seen in our growing community of staff networks – celebrating successes and creating opportunities to listen and learn. We value our differences, champion kindness and civility, and truly believe that diversity makes us stronger.

A culture of learning, developing and innovating is the thread that runs throughout our whole organisation. We want to support you to thrive, taking your career to its full potential.

We value staff well-being, with a well-established programme of support. We believe in a holistic approach spanning all aspects of living a healthy life, including physical, emotional, spiritual and financial well-being. We've even got a pool
