Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Room Leader at Millie's Day Nursery in Borehamwood to lead a team of adults and run their classroom effectively. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with children. This role requires effective communication and the ability to foster a nurturing environment for both staff and children. The Room Leader will be responsible for ensuring that daily operations run smoothly while maintaining high standards of care and education.

Responsibilities

  • To help create a safe, caring and stimulating environment, where providing each child with the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.
  • Supervise and support staff during shifts, providing guidance and direction as needed. Lead, mentor and inspire a team to deliver exceptional care and education and provide feedback to create a consistent approach of early years practice to include but not limited to regular 1:1's, supervisions and appraisals.
  • Safeguard and promote the health, safety and welfare of children in line with our child protection and keeping everyone safe policies and procedures.
  • Consistently deliver and plan rich learning opportunities and exceptional care that helps all children to develop and meets their individual needs.
  • Ensuring an enabling environment is providing consistent stimulating and inspiring activities for the children in both the indoor and outdoor area as a continuous provision.
  • Parental communication is always consistently approached where you share, inform, update and liaise with the utmost professionalism for the best of the child's developmental learning, their well-being and safeguard protections.
  • Maintain accurate records related to attendance, incidents, and other essential documentation.
  • Collaborate with management to develop policies and procedures that enhance the quality of care provided.
  • You will keep a tidy, clutter free and clean classroom with display work that promotes the children's learning and interests.

You always ensure the classroom is inspirational, you ensure that you make the classroom an exciting and happy place to be, you change and adapt with the children's interests by creating exciting opportunities to play, learn and discover.

Qualifications

  • Background in early childhood education or relevant qualifications in childcare is an advantage.
  • Experience working with children, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding of their needs.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with staff, parents, and children.
  • Proven experience in a management or leadership role within a childcare setting is desirable but not limited to.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £25,396.80-£32,500.00 per year
