Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced M&E Estimator / MEP Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team. The role will involve preparing accurate cost estimates, take-offs, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for mechanical and electrical projects, liaising with the supply chain, and supporting the commercial management of live projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring tenders are competitive, risks are managed, and projects achieve their commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Cost Planning

  • Prepare accurate take-offs and BOQs from drawings, specifications, and scope documents.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) works.
  • Analyse project risks, value engineering options, and provide cost advice to the team.
  • Prepare and present tender submissions, budgets, and cash flow forecasts.

Supply Chain & Procurement

  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
  • Assess and compare quotes to ensure compliance with specifications and best value.
  • Negotiate commercial terms with supply chain partners.
  • Maintain and update a robust database of suppliers, labour, and material rates.

Commercial & Project Support

  • Manage project cash flow and support monthly cost reporting.

  • Support project teams with contract administration, valuations, and variations.

  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and risk management procedures.

  • Identify and pursue value engineering opportunities to maximise profitability.
  • Assist in resolving commercial and contractual disputes.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with the design, pre-construction, and project delivery teams to provide commercial input at all stages.
  • Provide clear, accurate, and timely reports to senior management.
  • Attend client and project meetings as required.
