Afternoon School Cleaner

Salary: FTE: £23,549 (£12.21/hour) Scale 23–30, dependent on experience

Contract Type: Permanent, Part-Time

Working Hours: Monday to Friday — 3:15pm to 5:15pm (10 hours per week)

Location: Epworth DN9

Start Date: Immediate/ASAP

Job Purpose:

To maintain a clean, hygienic, and safe environment throughout the school, supporting the well-being of pupils, staff, and visitors, and contributing to the smooth operation of the academy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organise and carry out all allocated cleaning tasks to meet the school's hygiene and safety standards.
  • Undertake relevant training and instruction related to cleaning procedures and equipment.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines and operate in line with safe working practices.
  • Clean and disinfect sinks, countertops, toilets, mirrors, and floors.
  • Replenish bathroom supplies (e.g., toilet paper, soap, paper towels).
  • Polish metalwork, including fixtures and fittings.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, wax, and polish floors using manual and automated equipment.
  • Dust and vacuum furniture, equipment, ledges, and partitions.
  • Empty waste and recycling bins and move contents to appropriate disposal areas.
  • Wash walls, woodwork, windows, doors, and window sills as needed.
  • Litter pick internally and externally as part of routine cleaning.
  • Move and clean school-specific equipment as required.
  • Maintain general housekeeping of all school areas, including toilets and recreational spaces.
  • Deal with and clean up spillages, sickness, and other incidents promptly and professionally.
  • Foster good working relationships with school staff, students, Trust employees, and visitors.
  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations at all times.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably required, in line with the post and grade.
