Role Description
AZ UK is strengthening its focus on driving Sustainability initiatives and activity across the business and therefore is establishing a strong central team.

We are looking for a Sustainability Lead Environment Officer to join our team on a 12 month fixed term contract. Reporting into the Head of Sustainability, within the CFO Finance Function, you will be responsible for driving Sustainability data and reporting in AZ UK's Business Operations. You will specifically focus on maturing sustainability reporting and data in order to driver better business performance and embed sustainability across operations.

You will contribute to developing and delivering the AZ UK's Sustainability data and reporting for Business Operations, in alignment with the Global Sustainability Strategy and local laws and regulations. You will be the go-to person for all Business Operations metrics, target and performance measurement and will proactively implement and drive Operations Sustainability initiatives into business processes, governance structures and functions. To achieve the ambitions and targets, you will be required to manage internal and external stakeholders and to collaborate closely with different business functions.

Salary Information
Circa 68,000
Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

Location: London. 12 month FTC
This is a hybrid based role with the expectation to be on-site two days a week.

About You

  • Contribute to delivering Sustainability strategy, ambitions and targets for AZUK's Activities that aligns with the Global strategy and enables business growth.
  • Be responsible for UK environmental data collection, reporting and performance insights. Own key non-financial environmental reporting & data, including coordinating the annual, 6M and 12M mandatory environmental performance report of the UK.
  • Develop and update operational GHG emission scenarios in line with the action plan, incorporating multiple pathways (business-as-usual, moderate reduction, and ambitious targets) to inform strategic decision-making and track progress against decarbonisation goals
  • Take ownership of delivering and managing Sustainable initiatives that contribute to the net-zero transition plan, growth plans and decarbonisation ambitions, including Property, Procurement, Finance, Waste & Paper Management, Travel & Mobility, HR, Risk, incl. EV100, GHG Targets (RE100).
  • Support the business in identifying initiative value, impact, area for improvement and drive and track progress in Sustainable Activities initiatives, including developing an environmental action plan of measures, to support the achievement of UK targets.
  • Establish relevant monitoring and controls of policies, activities and targets. Ensure quality of reporting is in place for appropriate steering and monitoring of KPIs and targets, including providing transparent and regular updates to key stakeholders. preparing the required information and evidences for local and group audits and critically review their effectiveness regularly.
  • Participate in the AZ-UK Sustainability Steering Group (prev. ESG Steering Group) and Sustainability Working Group to drive and measure progress and embed Sustainability into the business.
  • Act as the central point of contact for respective Sustainable matters and topics. Monitor and provide insight on future trends, competitor activity and industry developments to maximise Sustainable opportunities.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with internal stakeholders including senior leaders, function leads and subject matter experts. Work with the business functions to achieve the initiatives and targets.
  • Participate in interaction and engagement for AZUK with Group functions on Sustainable matters and strategy.
  • Take a lead in meeting external reporting requirements including TCFD reporting, NFSI reporting, CSRD, ClimateWise and other regulatory reporting requirements for Sustainable initiatives.

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience in project management and delivery, including tracking initiatives and reporting / monitoring progress. A strategic mindset, with the ability to understand the detail but also how this feeds into the bigger picture.
  • Significant experience in the Financial Services market, including analytical experience in finance, facilities management, Real Estate, IT or Procurement.
  • Has a proven ability to work with large datasets (non-financial or financial data ) to identify errors, implement quality control measures, and develop innovative solutions to address data gaps.
  • Advanced Excel skills and exposure to Power BI, DAX and SQL
  • Excellent communication, presentations and influencing and relationship management skills, with a high appreciation, and experience of managing stakeholder expectations and motivations.
  • Experience and proven track record in reporting to and working with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to navigate within a complex structure and work closely with internal teams.
  • A driven, can-do attitude, with a positive mindset and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Creative and Innovative Thinking - Proven track record in change management, transformation and strategy development
  • A self-starter who is proactive and can manage their own priorities.
  • Goal-oriented with the ability to successfully manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and to meet all deadlines.
  • A passion for teamwork and collaboration
  • Degree qualified in any discipline OR significant and relevant business experience

Desirable Skills
Knowledge, passion and expertise across all areads would be preferred

Technical Knowledge preferred by not critical. Demonstrable knowledge of ESG frameworks, standards, and trends.
