Job Summary

The Software Engineer will be responsible for the analysis, design, and development of software solutions. As a Software Engineer, you will work with internal stakeholders to understand their business needs to build new custom applications and influence system design. In addition, the software engineer should have experience with relevant modern development technologies such as TypeScript, JavaScript, React, , C#, and RESTful services, along with working knowledge of relational databases, automation, and infrastructure technologies.

The successful candidate will be adaptable to the ever-changing technology landscape, exhibit unrelenting passion for their work, enjoy experimenting with new technologies, thrive in high-performance teams, demonstrate resourcefulness in finding solutions to challenging problems, believe in craftsmanship, and possess an infectious positive attitude.

This position is fully remote with an occasional requirement to report to SHI offices for organizational events as required by management.

Role Description

  • Support the software design process based on functional requirements
  • Consult with project teams and end users to identify application requirements
  • Design, develop, and implement new software features or modifications to existing software.
  • Support CI/CD process for stability, efficiency, security, and quality of all shipped code.
  • Support Runtime platform maintenance, integration of new features, and release fixes.
  • Make recommendations for continuous improvement of SDLC and DevOps.
  • Design, develop, and implement code automation for improving efficiency and enforcing quality/security baselines.
  • Support in the creation and maintenance of documentation.
  • Participate in advanced support escalation for live site management.

Skill Requirements

  • Demonstrates excellent spoken and written communication as well as receptive listening skills, with the ability to present ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Good working knowledge and recent experience of: TypeScript, React, JavaScript, C#, and MySQL or T-SQL

  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands , and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Strong ability to work independently or in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, problem prevention, and problem-solving skills

  • Track record as a hands-on engineer designing and delivering solutions to meet complex design and architectural challenges in a cloud services environment

  • Deep practical experience operating high-scale services in production environments.

  • Experience and opinions on what great observability looks like, what safe deployments look like , and whether to push code on Fridays

  • Hands-on experience with either the Git Source Control System, Visual Studio Online, or Team Foundation Server

Prefered Skills

  • Any experience leveraging Azure or AWS cloud technologies will be considered a strong plus, but it is not required .
  • Highly proficient computer networking skills with a depth of knowledge in application-level protocols such as REST, SOAP, and Graph.

  • Experience with the Node.JS runtime.

  • Experience with various popular JavaScript frameworks such as: Angular, Electron.JS , Redux Toolkit.

  • Experience with Next.JS and Express.JS.

  • Experience with the OpenAPI 3.x specification.

  • Prior experience with performance analysis and optimization of web services and software.

  • Prior experience building services which run on Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or relevant work experience required
  • Advanced AWS or Azure Certification preferred
  • Ability to travel 10%
