We are looking for someone to join our team and learn the specialised art of spinning twist - a traditional hand made tobacco product, made the same way for over 200 years.

This is not your typical factory operative post. It requires a specific skill set and attention to detail. You need to be able to learn an intricate, delicate process and work as part of a small team. Exacting hand and eye coordination are needed and patience to learn an old technique.

The candidate should consider that some aspects of the process can sometimes be physical (but not excessively) and the role is very hands-on.

The candidate will also be called upon to work in other departments as necessary for the functioning of the business, most likely in the packing department. It is vitally important you have good attention to detail and take pride in the quality of the final packed product you would be turning out.

The successful candidate will be a vital part of the production team, producing Twist and packing and labelling products for shipments to the UK and worldwide markets. Our products are handmade and currently packed by hand. You will be part of a small team, with targeted tasks being planned for each day of the week.

The applicant will need to demonstrate a strong work ethic, self-motivation, adaptability, diligence, attention to detail and values working as part of a team, yet capable of taking responsibility and accountability.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Producing our iconic Twist rope tobacco
  • Packing/labelling/sealing & manual handling of products.
  • Assisting with other departments as required.
  • Ensuring that the production area you are working within is kept tidy.
  • In process quality checks as required.
  • Assist with the implementation of new systems & processes as required

You may also be required to undertake other tasks in addition to those listed above.

Requirements:

  • Excellent hand co-ordination, specifically with fiddly tasks
  • An attention to detail and strong work ethic.
  • Physical fitness for constant manual work and occasional lifting.
  • Excellent time keeping and a drive to achieve targets.
  • Autonomous working
  • Good communication and team working skills

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, willing to learn this specialised production technique and become an integral part of the production and packing team for many years to come as our company expands and moves forward.
